I'm Back - Again

My main webhost did a massive restructuring of their system, and once again I got locked out of my blog. I'm really tired of dealing with that - so I'm moving to Typepad where hopefully things will stay stable. Their interface is pretty groovy anyway. All the old posts can be accessed now and forever at this url.

I'm still jobless, and for a while there Alex and I were stressin' hard about what the future was going to be like. We've now got it figured out. I'm tired of being a rank-and-file graphic artist, so any position I take within the creative industry is going to be with an excellent company where I can do something I love and has REAL potential for growth. In fact, I have two interviews coming up in the next week for just those sorts of jobs. If I am not offered either position, I will settle back, get a part-time retail job or something to help cover the rent, focus most strongly on developing as a fine artist, and keep a constant eye out for those rare oppotunities. We will move from Atlanta if it is necessary and in fact, I personally would love to move away from Atlanta.

That's enough about that.

My old logs show that a good many people still check this blog, so hopefully I can win back some readers. I enjoy blogging very much; although in the middle of a job search I don't particularly want to go off on any fiery political rants! So don't expect anything more than diary-type entries for a bit, or at most, talk about more general, less controversial stuff. As the election year moves along I certainly will be writing about that - especially as I am finding the whole thing to be exceptionally entertaining!

It's going to take a while to get my template like I want it, and to get my blogroll back up to scratch. So bear with me.

Heh. Self-commenting, eh? ;)

I've been dying to see your thoughts on the circus, er...primary season! ;)

Hi
I looked in because of your title but see nothing about your being an artist. I tried your old URL but got an error message. Washington is expensive but for an artist it is great. I lived there many years. For art it is second only to New York - forget LA - and if you like museums, it is number one in the country. And you are still a short drive or Metroliner from NY so you have the best of all worlds. As a civil war buff it was especially for me a great area to live.

I apologize for not using your name but it is not listed anywhere I could fine it. So, frustrated artist, what kind of art/design? I am a printmaker/photographer although lately that should be photographer/printmaker. I love TypePad not only because I think it is the best but mostly because how they treat their members. Ask a question and it is answered quickly and fully. Most important it is answered friendly. I recall my first tickets were a little harsh but Brenna responded as if I used sugar instead of vinegar.

My blog is at http://brassring.typepad.com/alpine_art_gazette/ I do not get a lot of visitors because I do not get into a lot of politics, except local and it is dedicated to West Texas. Apparently the best way to get visitors is to rant and rave. I prefer a steady group who visit regularly. I reserve Mon, Tues, Fri for art columns, Weds for ramblings (show lists, etc.) and Thurs for Ray's Rants where I take off on things non-art. I hope you will look in. I will soon open two additional blogs, one each for the art galleries I run. A fourth is scheduled as soon as we get our next gallery opened.

Let us know more about your art and why you are frustrated. I have been in the art world 40 years and believe me, have gone down that frustration route many times.
Cheers
Ray

frustrated to the max. just typed in 'frustrated artist' at google.com. have painted/drawn all my life. good work i think. can be viewed at wtrac.tn.org as i am having a show there now. tried 5 grad schools. denied. mainly i believe the theme thing. why the hell can't an artist paint any and everything-ie the world around him. i just want to talk to other frustrated painters, artists.

drop a note please.
